Vegan Omega 3 | NutraVege

Hi Tribe!!! Today I want to talk about omega 3’s, and more specifically the vegan omega 3 that I take! Before I get into this post I want to let you know that this blog post is sponsored by my friends over at Nature’s Way (thank you Nature’s Way!! ILYSM!) but I’d be writing this blog post and featuring their vegan omega 3 supplement regardless because I really do love this product, I have been taking their vegan omega 3 supplement every single day and don’t plan on stopping any time soon because IT IS THE BEST. Seriously, it is.. and you’ll find out why in a sec… If you’re like me you may be wondering WHAT exactly omega 3’s are and what they are good for (I literally had no idea when I first started hearing about them on different podcasts I listen to lol) The three main omega-3 fatty acids are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) This powerful trio of fatty acids are important fats that provide many health benefits, important stuff bb’s.

When I started to research Omega 3’s I hit a wall when trying to figure out how to incorporate them into my wellness routine as typically these powerful fatty acids are only found in fish and fish oils… which isn’t going to work for me since I am plant-based and have been for over 3 years. After more research I learned that Omega 3’s can be found in some plant-based sources (algae, chia seeds, hemp seeds, brussels sprouts, walnuts – to name a few) but in order to get a substantial amount I would need to consume quite a bit of those sources on a daily basis.. which just isn’t a sustainable diet for me, I am not trying to eat a pound of walnuts every day haha 😉 The predominant source for most vegan omega 3 supplements is flax oil, which provides ALA, but that ALA must convert to active EPA/DHA in the body in order to be beneficial; and unfortunately humans and many animal species don’t have the ability to efficiently convert ALA to active EPA/DHA (on average only about less than 5% can!*) For optimum health, an adequate source of balanced EPA/DHA must be provided directly by dietary intake.

While I am being mindful about incorporating those foods into my diet more a much more sustainable way for me to ensure I am getting an adequate amount of omega 3’s is incorporating a vegan omega 3 supplement into my daily wellness routine; which is why I am so stoked I found a premium source of Omega 3s WITHOUT fish: NutraVege by Nature’s Way!

NUTRAVEGE

NutraVege truly supports overall health, but more specifically it helps support eye health, cardiovascular health, and brain health*! It is made from sustainably-sourced algae, has a very light clean taste (no fish breath which makes me happy because… YUCK!) and most importantly, it is a complete and balanced source of EPA/DHA!! It is also worth mentioning that in addition to being vegan, it is also gluten-free and soy free! NutraVege tastes great and is the perfect complement to my vegan lifestyle…I take the liquid in the morning either on it’s own (luckily it tastes good so I can totally do this!) Or if I am making one of my morning smoothies I’ll just put it right into there! If I am traveling I bring the soft gels with me so I can keep up with my daily wellness routine wherever I am 🙂 Whether you take the liquid or soft gels is totally your preference!
