WORK FROM HOME TIPS

Hi my beautiful friends💗 I hope you are all healthy and safe ✨ Since so many of us are now (hopefully) working from home I thought I would share all of my work from home tips with you to help you adjust to working from home! I know it can be super challenging, especially for all of us right now since we are not only living and working at home, but most likely working out too! I’m hoping these work from tips will help you find your groove!

Aside from my weekly public yoga classes and private yoga clients I generally work from home and have been working from home for the last 4 years.

Believe me when I say I KNOW the struggles that come along with working from home…. I’ve dealt with nearly all of them (and still do from time to time TBH!) but these work from home tips have been absolute game changers and literally make me feel so so good.

Before I get into my work from home tips I do want to mention that I have a YouTube video up explaining all of my tips in details so head over to my YouTube channel to check it out when you’re done reading this post! You can watch that video just by clicking the photo below✨

::: WORK FROM HOME TIPS :::

Please keep in mind these tips are in no particular order! Some might some random and weird but trust me.. they will change the game for you so keep an open mind, take what works for you and leave what doesn’t?!

1. KEEP YOUR SPACE CLEAN & TIDY

My motto is a messy space = a messy mind… take time to clean your space and take time each day to keep it that way! I’m one of those people who literally can’t focus if my space is messy – clutter straight up makes me anxious! Let go of anything that isn’t serving you on a regular basis. Purge anything and everything that you don’t regularly use. Get rid of the stack of random papers. Toss the excess. I’m telling you this is a major game changer when it comes to successfully working from home!

2. MAKE YOUR BED EVERY MORNING

Making your bed every morning when you wake up really signifies the end of sleep time and the start of your day! Doing so also will deter you from getting back into it and having a lazy day

3. REORGANIZE YOUR HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR HEALTHY ROUTINES

If you workout in your living room but all your workout equipment is buried in the garage you’re most likely not going to workout because your equipment is hard to get to.. take the guess work out of it for yourself! Make things easy! Put the things you need where you need them and do so in an aesthetically pleasing way and it will make you feel good to be organized.

4. SET THE VIBE

Find some room spray you really like, light a candle, run a diffuser with your favorite essential oils, burn some sage – whatever floats your boat! If you’re not able to invest in some smell good goodies maybe you simply just rearrange the furniture you already have to give yourself a fresh start! We are going to be spending A LOT of time at home so it may be worth it for you to take some time to create a motivating and inspiring space that makes you feel good and thrive during this time.

5. CREATE A DESIGNATED WORK SPACE

Creating a designated work space is going to allow you to set some necessary physical and energetic boundaries in your home. My number one tip when it comes to this: don’t work from your bed!! Doing so will taint your sleeping space – the you are working from bed a habit your brain will begin to associate bed with work and then when you crawl into bed to go to sleep you’ll have a hard time because your brain will be thinking WORK WORK WORK.. trust me, I know it’s tempting but it’s no bueno. Keep sleep sacred and keep your sleeping space sacred.

6. CREATE A ROUTINE & SCHEDULE

Creating a routine and schedule for yourself is another major key to successfully working from home! On the days I don’t have a plan I swear I get nothing done.. Take some time to plan out your week ahead of time and get specific! I go over this in great detail in my Work From Home Tips YouTube video so be sure to watch that to my current WFH routine and how I schedule my days!

7. SCHEDULE SCHEDULE SCHEDULE

Schedule in all the things: waking up, working out, work, dinner, self-care, quiet time etc. whatever things you want to do on a daily basis you need to schedule those things in!

8. CREATE STRUCTURE

I know I know you’re probably thinking but whyyyyy this is a great time to be free!? YES YOU’RE SO RIGHT, it is in some ways.. but I’m telling you a life without a little structure will get old really fast.. Create some structure for yourself: wake up at the same time every day, workout at the same time every day, set working hours for yourself.. doing so right now will give you a sense of routine which is all too important when you’re inside 24/7.

9. TO DO LISTS ARE YOUR BFF

Utilize to do lists! Make a plan! List out tasks in order of importance and do each one in order – do not skip to the next task until the one prior has been completed! I try ti limit my tasks for the day to 5.. I have noticed that trying to do more never works out very well and sticking to 5 is doable and that feeling of accomplishment afterwards is the best!

10. SINGLE TASK

Single tasking is the way to go bb. Way more efficient way to spend your time! Put the phone away, silence emails and FOCUS!

11. TIME BLOCK

Time blocking is my jam these days!!! I am the type of person that can totally get lost in whatever I am doing and before I know it the entire day is done and I’ve only done one thing lol.. decide how much time you want to work on a specific task, set a timer and focus.

12. REMEMBER TO HYDRATE

I have no idea why this is, but for some reason I have a way harder time remembering to drink water when I am home VS when I am out and about lol.. Set timers in your phone to HYDRATE! Keep a big bottle with you and set those timers bb!

13. NOISE PROOF HEADPHONES

Consider investing in noise proof headphones! They are amazing!!!! I originally got them to try to drown out my noisy downstairs neighbor lol but now I use them all the time and love them. Sometimes I don’t even listen to anything, I just turn them on and they really help minimize outside noise and signal to my brain to pay attention to what I’m doing instead of every noise around me.. I personally live in a busy part of LA so there are constantly noises and people talking loudly so if you live somewhere quiet these may not be something you need – but for me, they’ve ended up being one of my favorite WFH tools! They are a little pricey but they have really helped me focus and zone in while I am working.. in fact I am wearing them right now!

14. GET READY FOR YOUR DAY

Don’t stay in your pajamas all day!!! Get ready for work! Even if you only get changed into a cute comfy matching set, it doesn’t matter.. just don’t stay in your pjs or robe all day!! I swear it makes me drag my booty all day lol. While we’re on this topic I’m also going to suggest you consider investing in some cozy comfy socks and slippers and/or matching sweat outfits that are comfy but make you feel put together!

Ok my babes.. that’s all I’ve got for now! If you have any work from home tips you’d like to share that I didn’t list leave them in a comment below for the rest of our community! Sharing is caring, ya know?! 💗
