TYIL 28 Day Challenge

TYIL 28 Day Challenge is a self-development challnege to help you set goals, realign your habits and start showing up as your highest self!

The challenge was inspired by my 12 week program, The Yoga Inspired Life and in all honesty, I came up with the idea originally just for myself as this month I really want to focus on getting back into a healthy routine, as well as build new habits that will serve me in a positive way! Also, not going to lie… I have a few bad habits that I’ve picked up recently that I’m looking to break as well šŸ˜¬ With all that being said, while I originally was just going to do this challenge solo you know how I am – I LOVE to share my process; so after causally mentioning the TYIL 28 Day Challenge to my Instagram community and getting an enthusiastic response from so many people who were eager to join in I’m excited to share this with you!

They say it takes 28 days to build a habit; so I figured why not use February, the month with 28 days, to do just that! I also know from experience that when I share my personal goals and intentions with others I am way more likely to stick to them, which is why I decided to invite my community to join in so that we can hold each other accountable!

The whole point of the TYIL 28 Day Challenge is to let go of habits that are no longer serving you, build healthy habits that support your highest good, and get into a good groove with a soul nourishing routine! My hope is that you’ll approach this challenge with self-love and use it as an opportunity to start showing up as your highest self, each and every day!

I began my 28 day challenge on the first of Feb. but if you’re just reaching this post now you can start today! The idea here is to pick anywhere from 1 to 6 goals/intentions/habits that you are going to commit to doing (or not doing) for 28 days straight. As far as inspo for goals/intentions/habits I want you to think of things that you either A) want to get into the habit of doing but seem to put off or don’t prioritize regularly, or B) want to stop habitually doing.

Here are some ideas:

  • Meditate daily
  • Get on your yoga mat daily
  • Journal daily
  • Morning affirmations daily
  • Walk 10k steps each day
  • Incorporate a green smoothie every day
  • Workout x amount of times each week
  • Send an encouraging text to a loved one each day
  • Compliment a stranger each day
  • Go plant-based
  • Read a book cover to cover
  • Write for 10 minutes every morning
  • Stop ordering takeout
  • Pranayama daily
  • No social media before a certain time + after a certain time of day
  • Drink x amount of water daily
  • Morning manifestation practice
  • Go to bed at a certain time
  • Wake up at a certain time
  • Quit coffee
  • Daily gratitude practice

The idea here is for you to choose habits/goals/intentions that are challenging, yet achievable, reasonable yet impactful. I say this because I want you to stay away from anything extreme because that is just not sustainable! For example: lately, my meditation practice has been all over the place so that is something I want to reinstate into my daily routine. Instead of saying “I’m going to meditate every day for 30 minutes” I’m simply committing to something attainable, sustainable and doable: meditate for 5 minutes every morning. I’m not looking for perfection (which in my head might look like 30 minutes if meditation each day) I’m looking to simplify it and just focus on building a daily habit!

Here are my 6 goals/intentions/habits that I have committed to for 28 days:

  1. Get on my yoga mat every day for at least 10 minutes
  2. Meditate daily for 5 minutes
  3. No checking phone/social media/emails first thing in the morning: go on a walk and meditate first!
  4. No ordering Postmates/takeout delivery (but I did make an exception and said that I could on Valentine’s Day if I feel like treating myself šŸ˜‰šŸ’˜)
  5. In bed no later than 10pm: no phone in bed, no scrolling – read instead!
  6. Read my feel good novel, The Two Lives Of Lydia Bird cover to cover

My goals for this TYIL 28 Day Challenge are inspired by things I want to make a part of my daily routine and are very personal to me and what makes me feel my best. I think it’s really important for you to sit with yourself and really think about what habits will best help YOU show up as your highest self each day!

I created 2 printable month long trackers where you can list out your 6 goals/habits/intentions, get clear about our WHY for committing to these goals/habits/intentions, as well as a space for each day where you can check it off and keep track! (I’m a sucker for ticking things off a list šŸ˜‚šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø) One is an overall month long view and one is for each day/habit! Why did I create both? Because as I said, I love a list šŸ˜‚ Choose one or use both! Feel free to use the blank space at the bottom of the printable tracker to take notes, write an inspiring quote, or jot down a reward for yourself that you’ll treat yourself to upon completion of the 28 days!

I also made an Instagram story template that you can use to affirm and share your commitments with your community (and me if you tag me @shaylaquinn) so we can share on Instagram as well and hold each other accountable by sharing throughout each week! I’ll be posting a blank one each week as well as my own to share my progress!

Yay! So looking forward to seeing what your commitments are and beyond excited to up level with you! Also know that as it stands right now over 300 people are joining in on the TYIL 28 Day Challenge just in February alone, so you have a huge community of like minded babes making commitments and crushing goals right along side you!

The biggest shifts in my life started occurring when I stopped breaking promises to myself. Let the next 28 days inspire you to prove to yourself that you too, keep your promises and commitments, that you can do hard things, and that you are capable of doing anything you set your mind to!
