Green Juice: My current go-to combo!

Hi babes!!!!!! Happy Tuesday!!! I am back home from teaching my early morning yoga class and finally logged into IG (I am doing a 7 day challenge of no wake + scroll! Myself and 2 friends are committing to waiting at least 1 hour after we wake up to log onto the gram! I didn’t log in until AFTER teaching my class.. so 3 hours after waking up! yay! ) and saw that so many of you commented on my most recent post (you can see that by clicking here) and said you wanted to know more about my current green juice combo!

I am planning to do a full blog post on the main reason WHY I am back on a daily green juice as well as why I have been doing all of the other things I am doing to heal my body… and what I am working on healing my body of… but for the purposes of this post I will share a few details now so that it all makes sense!

If you have been following me on Instagram for a while then you may already know this (and if you don’t then keep reading.. and if you do.. please keep reading haha) but for 5 years I was working in nightlife, doing bottle service in Hollywood from 9pm-4am most nights.. I was sleeping about 4 hours a night and working in a stressful work environment. You may be wondering why that is relevant to this post, and I WILL get to that, but before I do I also want to mention that I was also involved in a very tumultuous, abusive and toxic relationship for about 4-5 years. Both of those situations are relevant because they both messed with my body’s cortisol levels, my sleep schedule, my stress levels, my emotional state, my hormones..basically the overall well being of my body in various ways, on a daily basis. 5 years of imbalance in my life has left me with an extreme imbalance in my hormones as well as adrenal fatigue. I am still in the process of healing my body with the help of various modalities (acupuncture, herbs, chiropractic, meditation, sleep, yoga etc.) so I don’t have a ton of information to share yet, but I am working on it… and once I have more information to share you KNOW I will be.

For now, here is what I know and what I am doing:

In an effort to fix the symptoms I have been experiencing (fatigue, chronic pain in my neck/shoulders, cystic acne, bloating, anxiety) I started to see an acupuncturist weekly (I have been seeing my acupuncturist Dr Mona Dan weekly for the past 5 months) I started seeing my childhood chiropractor/kinesiologist Dr David Loaiza (I go every 3 weeks and have been for the past 4 months) and a week ago I went and saw an herbalist I was referred to by my acupuncturist and I am now on a 3 week herbal protocol. According to my herbalist and acupuncturist the symptoms I have been experiencing are due to having too much “heat” in the body, my body is out of balance;  the yang is overpowering the yin and causing my body to wig out. I have also been shifting my sleep schedule and working on tackling my diet… I plan to share more on allllll of this once I am further into my treatment, but one thing I have been incorporating daily as recommended by my acupuncturist is a daily green juice which will help “cool” the heat down in my body.

Green Juice Combo

My current go-to green juice combo is celery, cucumber, lemon, ginger, parsley, dandelion greens, plus kale and/or spinach! I have listed why I am using each ingredient below! Each food has many more healing properties than I have listed, but I am just sharing the main reason why I am using each one on a daily basis in my green juice 🙂

Celery

Celery is anti-inflammatory and hydrating; it also helps to starve unproductive bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus, and viruses that may be in the body, and flushes their toxins and debris out of the intestinal tract and liver.

Cucumber

Cucumber has a cooling effect on the body (muscle tension and acne= heat so you have to consume cooling foods to calm down the heat in the body!)

Lemon

For me, adding lemon counteracts the taste of the bitter greens that I add in my juices but more than the taste lemons are highly alkalizing for the body and have antibiotic, antiseptic, and anti-cancer properties!

Ginger

Ginger is anti-inflammatory, antiviral and does wonders for digestion. It is also packed with its own signature variety of bioavailable vitamin C. Ginger also has the ability to bring the body out of a reactive state by soothing nerves and muscles, AND helps bring balance and homeostasis to the thyroid, lifting it up if it’s hypo and calming it down if it’s hyper.

Dandelion Greens

Dandelion greens are packed with vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, C, E, & K, and calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper.

Kale

Great for thyroid support, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins A, C, E, K, B-complex and minerals such as iron, magnesium, copper, and potassium. Kale is an anti-cancer powerhouse and contains phytochemicals such as glucosinolates that help protect the body from breast, colon, prostate, ovarian, and bladder cancer.

Spinach

Spinach creates an alkaline environment in the body and provides highly absorbable micronutrients to the nervous system. It also binds onto and removes the jelly-like viral waste matter in the liver, and is great for rejuvenating skin and turning around conditions such as eczema and psoriasis

Parsley

Pathogen-fighter; it keeps bacteria, parasites, and fungus at bay. Parsley is full of nutrition, including B vitamins such as folic acid, traces of B12 coenzymes, and vitamins A, C, and K. It’s also a highly remineralizing food, especially for those low in trace minerals; parsley provides magnesium, sulfur, iron, zinc, manganese, molybdenum, chromium, selenium, iodine, and calcium.

Ok, that’s all for now! If you have any question please feel free to leave me a comment below!

Hi 🙂 you’re blog is amazing. I’m thinking about juicer, which one do you use? Thanks 🙂

Thank you so much love!! I have a Breville juicer that I have had for YEARS!! It was a great investment! I don’t know the exact model but I do know it wasn’t the most expensive one.. but it also wasn’t the cheapest one.. I went with a middle ground juicer and like I said it has been great! xoxo
